Selwyn Resources Ltd. is the successor to Pacifica Resources Ltd. that underwent a reorganization of its assets in June 2007. Pacifica's acquisition of the Howard's Pass Joint Venture lands in April 2005 consolidated ownership in the Howard's Pass District and the formation of the Selwyn Project. The unprecedented exploration success in the 2005 and 2006 programs has produced a world class giant zinc-lead deposit of exceptional potential. In the reorganization, all of Pacifica's assets outside of the Selwyn District in the eastern Yukon were transferred to Savant Explorations Ltd. for common shares of Savant in June 2007.
The restructuring established Selwyn Resources Ltd. as a single purpose company focused on the development of the Selwyn Project as a world class zinc-lead project. In the process of providing this focus, Pacifica crystallized the value of its non-core assets and established a vibrant new exploration company with strong leadership.
In July 2009, Selwyn decided to broaden its exploration focus and farmed into Savant's Vinata silver-zinc-lead property in Mexico and completed an earn-in agreement whereby it may earn a 55% joint venture interest.
The outlook for base metals remains very positive, with the supply-demand fundamentals for zinc and lead looking particularly strong over the next 5 to 10 years as mine development tries to keep up with rapid demand growth and replace production from several mines nearing depletion.
Aktuelle Tätigkeiten:
The Selwyn Project
The Selwyn Project is located in eastern Yukon and straddles the border with the Northwest Territories (NWT). More than 90 percent of the district is in the Yukon, with only the southeast end extending across the border into the NWT.
The Selwyn Project is the consolidation of the Howard's Pass Joint Venture lands acquired from Placer Dome and Cygnus mines Ltd., and Selwyn's wholly owned lands in the Selwyn District. Selwyn has completed more than $56.5 million of exploration on them. The property consists of 7,450 hectares of mineral claims in the Yukon and 2,162 hectares of Mining Lease lands in the Northwest Territories, referred to as the Howard's Pass Joint Venture. In addition, Selwyn has 19,294 hectares of mineral claims in the Yukon and 3,373 hectares of wholly owned claims in the Northwest Territories. These claims and mining leases provide Selwyn control over 66 kilometres of the favourable strata in this giant zinc-lead district.
Selwyn also owns 8,821,667 common shares of Savant Explorations, representing approximately 23.3% of the issued capital of Savant (as at June 1, 2008); it also holds a warrant to purchase an additional 1,594,167 common shares.
Selwyn spent approximately $22.0 million on exploration on the Selwyn Project in 2005 and 2006 resulting in discovery of seven new mineralized zones that confirm that the deposit is one continuous mineralized deposit having a length of at least 38 kilometres. Placer published a global mineral resource in January 1983. This mineral resource is not NI 43-101 compliant and in June 6, 2005, Selwyn published a NI 43-101 report qualifying the previous Placer mineral resource estimate. Selwyn published a new NI 43-101 compliant mineral resource in March 2006 focusing on resources that were amenable to open pit mining. A total of 191 drill holes were completed in 2007 resulting in a significant expansion of mineral resources that were released in April 2007 (see May 2, 2007 NI 43-101 report, amended October 12, 2007 available on the SEDAR website).

Howard's Pass District
The Howard's Pass District is a world-class zinc-lead-silver district straddling the Yukon and Northwest Territories border. The mineralization consists of stratiform and stratabound zinc and lead sulphide mineralization within Silurian shales of the Howard's Pass Formation. All known mineralization occurs within a specific stratigraphic unit referred to as the Active Member. The Active Member has been followed for more than 38 kilometres and wherever located it contains significant zinc-lead mineralization.
Exploration by the Howard's Pass Joint Venture during the 1970's and 1980's defined three deposits (XY, Anniv and OP) spread over a 38-kilometer long belt of favourable strata. These three zones on the Howard's Pass Property contain a historical mineral resource ( circa 1983) of 115.4 million tonnes (Indicated resource) grading 5.41% zinc and 2.10% lead (mostly in the XY Zone) plus an additional Inferred resource in excess of 367 million tonnes with a similar grade which are projected for areas where only widely spaced drilling has been performed. These estimates predate current resource estimation standards established by National Instrument 43-101 and should not be relied upon by investors (see the new resource and reserve section for updated resources).
Prior to exploration by Selwyn, all three zones were known to be open at depth and along strike. The ultimate tonnages of zinc and lead mineral resources in the District were estimated at the time to be much larger.

Mexican Silver-Zinc-Lead Belt & the Vinata Acquisition
The Central Mineral Belt of Mexico hosts most of the major silver-zinc-lead producers of Mexico. Mexico produced 104 million ounces of silver in 2008 making it one of three largest silver producers along with Peru and China. Most of these deposits have very similar characteristics and are classified as Carbonate Replacement Deposits ("CRD"). The similarity of many attributes of these deposits forms the basis of successful exploration models.
Although these deposits are well known for their high silver contents they are an important source of zinc and lead with Mexico. The deposits vary from small high grade deposits of less than 1 million tonnes to district size deposits with aggregate of more than 50 million tonnes of ore. In a 1988 summary, Megaw, Ruiz and Titley noted 17 districts of which 8 had reserves or production exceeding 10 million tonnes with average ore grades of 80 to 350 gpt silver and significant zinc and lead production.
Selwyn has an agreement with Savant Explorations Ltd. to acquire an initial 50% interest in the Vinata property by making expenditures of USD$1,000,000 over 30 months and a payment of CAD$100,000 on completion of the initial earn-in expenditures. Upon completion of the initial option, it has an option to increase its interest to 55% by making an additional US$500,000 of expenditures on Vinata property and paying Savant and additional CAD$100,000 (see July 22, 2009 news release).
The Vinata property is well located approximately 55 kilmetres south of the city of Chihuahua, Mexico and is easily accessible using highways and local roads. The property is situated in the heart of what is arguably one of the most productive regions in the World for Carbonate Replacement Deposits (“CRD”). These deposits are well known for their large tonnage and high dollar value per tonne of ore extracted. CRD deposits are currently some of Mexico's largest lead-zinc-silver mines. Examples of these producing CRD mines include Bismark, Santa Eulalia and Naica in Chihuahua State, and La Paz and Charcas in San Luis de Potosi State.
